Perhaps you are overwhelmed, struggling in your relationships, reeling from something that just happened, or you are finally getting to that thing from your past.
Perhaps you have been waiting to feel ready, or to find the right support.
Maybe you want to feel better but you don't know where to start.
Maybe it's time to make space!

Therapy for Therapists
Meet our Registered Psychotherapists.
We have a diverse and talented team.
Every therapist is licensed to perform psychotherapy with specialized training in trauma.
Work with one of our skilled therapists in Hamilton, Burlington or online across Ontario and beyond across Canada.
Random fact: Nearly all of us have dogs, a few of us have cats, and a few of us have both!

EMDR
EMDR helps your brain to safely reprocess painful experiences so they no longer hijack your present-day life.
It does not require you to retell every detail of your trauma. Instead, it engages your nervous system in a safe, structured way while allowing your brain to heal without being overwhelmed.
EMDR Approaches We Use:
Our therapists integrate deeply attuned styles of EMDR that are personalized and meaningful to you:
Standard EMDR – Supported by neuroscience through the impact on both brain activity and connectivity. Effective for accidents, medical trauma, birth trauma, sudden loss, mood issues and more.
Attachment Focused EMDR (AF-EMDR) – AF-EMDR is an expansion of Standard EMDR. Gentle, relational and resource-rich it is designed for complex trauma, early attachment wounds, and highly sensitive or overwhelmed nervous systems and more.
Jenni and Anna have both been trained in AF-EMDR with the esteemed Parnell Institute in California.
Somatic EMDR – Blends EMDR with nervous system tracking, body noticing and processing to ensure safety and regulation.
IFS EMDR / Parts-Integrated EMDR – Blending IFS with EMDR creates a grounded and contained internal structure that supports trauma work to unfold more safely. Together, they enhance emotional regulation, deepen the healing process, and support meaningful long-term change and integration.
Recent Traumatic Event
Our trauma therapists are also trained to work with recent events to prevent trauma from settling into the system -- this means we ideally avoid seeing PTSD symptoms manifest. If you would like to connect with a psychotherapist near you to address a recent event we can help!
As specialists in trauma therapy, we are committed to delivering innovative, evidence-based treatment.
Is there an EMDR therapist near me? Yes!
You can work with an EMDR or AF-EMDR therapist in Hamilton, an EMDR therapist in Burlington or an EMDR or AF-EMDR therapist online.
Our team is here to provide quality support.

IFS
Does it feel as though your emotions hijack you, flood you or baffle you?
Does your thinking overwhelm you?
Have you noticed that you often feel conflicted inside?
Maybe you can't decide which way to feel about something?
If any of this sounds familiar you may enjoy IFS therapy with us!
Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy is one of the key modalities we offer at Making Space Psychotherapy, and it plays a central role in how we support healing and self-discovery.
IFS offers a deeply respectful and transformative way to work with the different parts of you -- especially those shaped by protective patterns, emotional pain or trauma.
This model is aligned with and informed by research on neuroplasticity, memory reconsolidation and the brain's response to trauma.
IFS & Self-Acceptance
Working with ALL of who you are allows for self-acceptance. You learn to view yourself (and others) in a life-changing way. Our clients find that IFS helps them develop greater self-understanding, inner harmony and lasting change.
Our Registered Psychotherapists are trained in IFS, and integrate it with compassion and care.
Is there an IFS therapist near me? Yes!
You can work with an IFS therapist in Hamilton, an IFS therapist in Burlington or an IFS therapist online. You choose where you feel most comfortable and we will support you in that space.
We believe that healing happens when you reconnect with your core Self, and IFS therapy offers a clear path to get you there. If you are looking for thoughtful, attuned support through IFS, we would be honoured to work with you.
If you are seeking IFS therapy we welcome you to reach out and begin your journey with us.

Somatic
Do you ever feel disconnected from your body?
Do you find yourself living in your head and not connecting with what you feel?
Maybe you notice tension, tightness, or restlessness that never really goes away.
Or perhaps your body shuts down under stress like you are frozen or numb inside.
Do you worry you can't actually feel?
Somatic Therapy is at the core of the work we do at Making Space Psychotherapy.
This approach recognizes that the body remembers.
Experiences of stress, grief, fear, or overwhelm often live in our muscles, breath, and nervous system and not just our minds. Somatic Therapy helps you reconnect with your body as an ally in healing.
Through gentle awareness and guidance, you’ll learn to notice your sensations, regulate your nervous system, and build trust in your body again.
Somatic Styles we use:
-
Somatic Embodiment & Regulation
-
Somatic & Mindfulness Integration
-
Somatic Experiencing-Informed
-
Polyvagal Therapy
-
IFS with Somatic Awareness
-
AF-EMDR
Healing Through the Body
When you include the body in therapy, healing can go deeper. Somatic work helps restore the connection between mind and body, making space for calm, confidence and ease.
Our clients often describe feeling lighter, more peaceful, and more at home in themselves after somatic sessions.
Whether you’re meeting with a Somatic Therapist in Hamilton, connecting with a Somatic Therapist in Burlington, or exploring Somatic Therapy online our team will meet you with curiosity, compassion and care.
