Registered Psychotherapist

M.A. Counselling Psychology, B.A.(Hons), HOM (Homeopath)
Somatic EMDR Therapy Certificate
EMDR I & II

I am a Registered Psychotherapist who works with a variety of issues and specializes in trauma, C-PTSD, parenting, burnout, anger management and fear.

Sometimes you may feel overwhelmed, disconnected, activated, angry, scared or irritable. I begin by doing my part in the therapeutic relationship -- I show up for you and ensure you are seen and heard so that you can begin to feel you can come as you are. With a gentle, laid back vibe I offer an integrated approach of psychoeducation, talk therapy and lifestyle changes. How this looks exactly is based on who you are and what you are bringing to the space.

I am married, divorced, and remarried with two teenagers. I therefore have lived experience as a mother and partner that allows me to relate in our work together. I have also worn many hats in my professional life as a Homeopathic Practitioner and in various Sales and Retail Leadership roles.

I incorporate a somatic and mindful approach to all clients who are open to finding sustainable strategies for coping that actually fit into your life outside of therapy.

Somatic EMDR is an expansion of the standard protocol. It supports healing from trauma effectively and holistically. This approach integrates EMDR therapy and somatic psychology into your trauma treatment plan and provides you with strategies to process stress, release what's holding you back, and expand your resilience. I am a big believer that we hold a lot of stress in our body so I offer simple and easy strategies to work out that stress.

Somatic & EMDR - "as stand-alone therapies these are now considered to be two of the best trauma models available. Integrating these therapies enhances the effectiveness of both" -Dr. Arielle Schwartz

I completed my graduate studies at Yorkville University and the Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine, and my undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto. I have since gone on to complete trainings in Somatic EMDR, Polyvagal, CBT and DBT.

I look forward to connecting with you!

More about how I work...

Somatic EMDR

I believe in a bottom-up approach to therapy. Incorporating Somatic EMDR, I will always check in with you for your readiness for this work. We will spend time discussing this method of treatment in detail and you will always direct the goals, pace and timing. EMDR is a powerful tool that can help process difficult memories or events that have happened in your life.

Mindfulness

Incorporating mindfulness into psychotherapy offers a powerful tool for promoting healing and growth. By cultivating present-moment awareness, acceptance, and non-judgment, you can develop greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience. As the therapist, my role is to guide you through mindfulness practices that you can take away and integrate into your daily routine. These habits create an opportunity for deeper insight, connection, and well-being.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT offers a comprehensive and evidence-based approach to psychotherapy, integrating cognitive-behavioural techniques with mindfulness, acceptance, and interpersonal skills training. By addressing the dialectic between acceptance and change, DBT empowers individuals to manage intense emotions, tolerate distress, and build fulfilling lives. Its adaptability makes it suitable for a wide range of mental health conditions, offering hope and support to those seeking to improve their well-being.

ALL are welcome.

The land on which our clinics operate have been the traditional land of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, and Mississaugas of the Credit for thousands of years. Making Space Psychotherapy and its staff are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land. We also acknowledge and have gratitude for the elements of our work in various modalities that may come from ancient, ancestral and Indigenous ways of knowing and healing.
